SHARCS 7's season.
As we reach the end of 7s, it’s worth having a quick look back at the competition and how the sHARCs carried forward their momentum from the 15s season. Missing out on final 4 by a point spurred the squad on resulting in them being RRRC champions for the first time and heading for the National 7s in St. Louis. A really great achievement, but it doesn’t stop there. sHARCs are on an unbeaten stretch of 7 RRRC/TOLA tournament wins going back to 2021. With our participation over for this year, we look forward to extending the streak in 2023. Within the squad we had the largest number of players ever participate in 7s allowing us to enter multiple teams at events. Additionally, we qualified 17 players for eligibility at nationals with the final 13 to be selected to represent the club. There will also be benefits felt beyond the series and into next year’s 15s competition through the deep level of participation in 7s through fitness and skills acquisition. This will undoubtedly support our expansion with a new sHARCs team WD2 running alongside our established WD1 presence. So the season is nearly over, but the biggest prize is still there to be taken.
