sHARCs vs Black Ice
This past Saturday at a cold and wet Aveva Stadium, your sHARCs reached the halfway point of their season coming away with a bonus point win over the visiting Black Ice from Colorado to maintain their 100% record in the competition and extend their lead at the top of the table to 10 points. A highly competitive Black Ice traveling team put the sHARCs under pressure throughout, but a strong scrum performance and a dynamic backline led to a final score of 35-20 in favor of the home team. Tries from Juls, KC, and a pair each for Abrianna and Nadira, with Cheese picking up the Player of the Match award for the sHARCs.
Next game up is at home against the 4th placed 0-3 Valks before the team travels to Colorado for a double header.
HARC men vs SARFC
February 26, 2022 - On a cold, drizzly day in San Antonio, the HARC men came up short against San Antonio RFC in a match much closer than the final score of 10-34 would indicate. The scoring opened up on a penalty kick by fly-half Dominic van der Walt at the 5' mark, which SARFC answered with at 12' with a penalty kick by fullback Joel Cagel. At the 21' mark, SARFC outside center, Clifford Davidson, broke through with the first try of the night with a successful conversion by Cagel making it 3-10. For ten minutes, both sides missed opportunities with goal line stands at both ends before a flurry of three tries, including two by eventual SARFC man of the match, Martin Keuchkerian, and two conversions by SARFC in the final 8 minutes of the first half made it 3-29 SARFC at the half.
The second half was played mostly to a draw with tough defense on both sides limiting scoring to a long HARC try by eventual man of the match, Mark Ogren, who subbed in just before half at inside center, and subsequent conversion by van der Walt. A SARFC with no time left, by scrum half Nathaniel Taylor made the final score HARC 10, SARFC 34.
The men have a chance at a rematch on 3/12 with SARFC making the trek down I-10 to face off with HARC here in Houston.
