Do I have to be big and young to play rugby?
- NO! Rugby is every person’s game. Because of the variety of positions and skills demanded in the game, players of all shapes and sizes can find a position.
What all do I need?
- For practice, you only need to bring a pair of cleats, a mouth guard and some water.
- Once you start playing, you’ll need to get to get a uniform (or “kit”), consisting of shorts, socks, and a jersey.
- You are required to have medical insurance to play and/or practice with the team. This can be acquired through USA Rugby during your registration process.

When is training?
- During the regular 15s season (fall/winter/spring), we train on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. During the summer for 7s, we train on Tuesday and Thursdays at 7:00PM.
When do you play games?
- Regular 15s matches are on Saturdays and traditionally start at 2:00 pm. 7s Matches are exclusively at tournaments during the summer, which usually have an early morning start time.
Where do you Practice?
- During the 15s season, we train at the Bayland Park (weather permitting). https://goo.gl/maps/EWvdqSm1hWA2
- Alternative locations will be posted accordingly.
Where do you play?
- We play home matches at the Houston Sports Park or at the University of Houston rugby fields . Away games are usually within 1 to 5 hours of Houston and played in Texas and Louisiana.
I don’t have a car; how can I get to practices or out-of-town games?
- We carpool or hire a chartered coach on the days of the match, usually meeting at a pre-determined location. We can set up rides and carpools to practice when needed. Some have been known to ride their motorcycles or bikes to practice with their backpack stuffed with rugby gear.
Who do you play?
- HARC plays in the top division within the Red River Rugby Conference. We play teams in the Houston, Austin, Dallas metropolitan areas as well as Louisiana. On occasion, we will travel to teams throughout the country.
How much does it cost?
- The Club has not yet set Membership Dues rates for the 2018-2019 15s Season yet. Please check back soon for more information and the ability to register.
When is your season?
- Our 15s season runs from late August through the end of April the following year and extends longer when the club advances to playoffs.
- In the summer, we play a variation called 7s (or “Sevens”) that typically is held from June to August.
7s? What’s that?
- 7s is a variation of the game in which there are only 7 players per side and 7 minute halves. It’s played on a full-sized pitch, so with half the guys covering the same amount of space, there’s a LOT more running involved
How is the club operated and run?
- The club is made up of active and social members and is administrated by the HARC Operating Committee (HOC). The HOC is comprised of the Club President, Club Manager, Club Secretary, Vice President, Sponsorship Chair, and Treasurer. There are additional committee positions that are available to all.
