I'm interested in playing rugby, but I have no experience/knowledge of the game. Is that a problem?

Not at all! We have certified coaches that will teach you everything you need to know about the game of rugby. New players can come to practice to train and learn at their own pace.
Once a player has a solid understanding of rugby fundamentals, safety, and strategy, they can sign up to play games. Playing is not mandatory; players participate based on their own availability.

Do I have to be big and strong to play rugby?

No! There are 15 different rugby positions, each with ideal skills and body shapes.
HARC has multiple Men's and Women's teams that compete at different levels to best accommodate and develop players based on their ability (Division 3, Division 2, Division 1)

When are tryouts?

HARC hosts free "Rugby 101" sessions every September to restart the rugby season and encourage new players to join. HARC is always ready to welcome in new players, any time of year. If you are interested in playing rugby, please come out to a practice as soon as possible. We train and play all year long, and only take occasional holiday/season breaks.

When is your season?

HARC trains and plays rugby all year long, with the exception of major holidays, breaks, and inclement weather days. Visit our calendar to stay updated on all HARC events.
Our traditional 15s season runs September - May.
Our summer 7s season runs May - August.

What do I need to play rugby?

To start playing rugby, you just need a pair of cleats, a mouthguard, and a bottle of water.
Eventually, players will need to get some additional playing gear. Read our Gear Guide to learn more.
You are required to have medical insurance to play and/or train rugby. This can be acquired through USA Rugby during your registration process.

How much are Club Fees/Registration?

The HARC Club Player Registration fee is ~$300 for the year and can be set to various monthly payment plans.
The USA Rugby Player Registration fee is ~$100 for the year. This is mandatory for all players, coaches, and referees.

When/where is practice?

We train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 PM at Bayland Park. Click here for directions.
We occasionally cancel practices for holidays, season breaks, or inclement weather. Contact us directly or follow us on social media to stay updated on trainings.
